Are comments moderated?

Yes. Readers are encouraged to contribute helpful information, commentary and opinions. Most on-topic comments will be posted, but moderation will screen out inappropriate comments.

What kinds of comments are inappropriate?

Offensive language, personal attacks and insults, off-topic rantings, and other behavior that is not in keeping with intelligent and informed discourse.

Are comments edited?

No.

If a comment is approved, how long will it take before it appears?

Although comments typically will display after a short delay, the lag may be up to a few hours at times. Moderation does not take place on weekends or holidays, so comments posted on weekends will be screened the next business day.

What can I comment on?

Comments can be made about articles of all types, Travel Jonze blog posts, and even photographs and videos in the multimedia gallery. Comments about comments are also encouraged.
